Stantec concludes acquisition of MWH Global

Stantec has acquired MWH Global, an engineering and construction management, engineering and consulting firm with focus on water and natural resources.

Stantec currently has 187 offices in 26 countries.

With this acquisition, Stantec bolsters its position as a global leader in water resources infrastructure segment.

Besides, it will also secure its presence in key regions such as the Middle East, United Kingdom, South as well as Central America.

The acquisition was announced on 29 March .

MVH shareholders voted in favour of the agreement.

Stantec president and chief executive officer Bob Gomes was quoted by Waterworld.com as saying: "The closing of the Acquisition marks an important step in the Company’s continued journey to be a top global design firm.

"MWH brings new geographic presence, acclaimed industry reputation, and most importantly, shared values in their dedication to communities."

MWH Global with around 200 years of history in this industry, has served as the lead designer of the Panama Canal Third Set of Locks Project in Panama.

It also served as the construction manager for the Austin Water Treatment Plant No. 4 in Texas, US.

MWH chairman and CEO Alan Krause was quoted by the website as saying: "By combining the talents and expertise of our employees, we have forged an even stronger team to address our clients’ most challenging issues in water and infrastructure.
