Reiss Engineering to support development of water treatment facility in Polk County, US

Central Regional Utility Service Area (CRUSA) in Polk County, Florida, US, has selected Reiss Engineering to provide engineering services for the design, permission and construction of a new four million gallon per day (MGD) Water Production Facility.

The planned water plant is expected to serve around 15,500 residents within the 19 square mile service area.

It is intended to replace the existing five interconnected Water Production Facilities (WPF) within CRUSA in order to centralise the drinking water system within the service area of the utility.

Four raw water supply wells have been proposed to supply the required water for the new water treatment plant.

Reiss Engineering client services manager Kathleen Gierok said: "Ensuring that clean safe water is available to public is our company’s mission, and we are proud to be a part of Polk County’s commitment to provide high quality water its customers ‘straight from the tap.’"

Incorporated with advanced technologies, the facility is expected to ensure ‘continued delivery of high-quality and regulatory-compliant potable water to its customers.’

The US-based engineering firm is expected to offer design, bidding and construction oversight for two of the proposed water supply wells initially and conduct preliminary environmental site investigations for those.

Construction bids for those two wells are expected to start in September. Preliminary design for the facility is likely to start from spring next year.

The firm will derive water quality data to determine about the optimum water treatment capacity of the facility in autumn this year.
