WEF and WERF seek proposals for innovative wastewater technologies

US-based water research and technology organisations Water Environment Federation (WEF) and Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF) are calling for proposals for water technology that can help in intensification for resource recovery.

The two entities are inviting water treatment technology proposals that would support intensification of resource recovery, involving recovery of energy, nutrients, water and other products.

Proposals submitted by innovators should be relevant to intensification technologies for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment procedures, to be found in developed nations, such as the US.

The technologies should focus on intensification of resource recovery processes that provide more than 30% decrease in the capital cost, with reduced concrete tank volume and footprint.

The selection panel is likely to show preference for technologies that can offer significant reduction in operation and maintenance (O&M) costs, the organisations said.

On selection, the proposals will be featured at a forum to be held at Manhattan College, New York City, scheduled on 9-11 August 2015.
